Who among us does not have a bunch of keys scattered in various places around the house? These are the keys that we no longer know what they fit or what they are/were for. Seldom do we get the courage to throw them out because someday we just might need them. Except that we never do. Connie Carrol of New Rochelle, N.Y., did something with them.

Connie probably has more keys than most of us because she is in the real estate business but if you start a search you might find enough to make at least one of the projects that Connie made.

Connie gathered the keys then glued them to another surface using a glue gun. One of the items she covered with keys was a metal dome lidded lunch box and the other was a large, old brass trunk. According to Connie, "I glued the keys with hot glue in all different directions and let dry for a couple of days. Then with a glitter acrylic paint (the paint with the long spouts on it) I painted in between each key , covering all the spaces, even the ones on the keys themselves, let them dry thoroughly, sometimes putting a fan on them for at least two days. I then sprayed the whole thing with clear acrylic spray and later sprayed on another coat." (figures A and B)

Also in the Shoebox today was a picture of a cute idea from Nancy Souders of Strattonville, Pa., that's perfect if you happen to be needing an idea for a baby shower table decoration or just want a little gift idea to give to a new mother. Nancy sent a photo of a pair of white baby shoes (new or used) into which she had put a piece of foam to act as a base, then added a variety of decorative items. Nancy said that after covering the top of the foam with sphagnum moss or wood chips, you can add items from nature such as pebbles and shells and the like, or baby items like miniature balloons, alphabet blocks, etc. They were very cute (figure C).
