With the desk and chair-rail installed, the finishing touches for the baseball office can be added. Some of Ken Griffey's prized mementos are placed into attractive displays and incorporated into the office decor.
Memorabilia and Mementos
- A baseball bat commemorating the1990 baseball season -- when the Cincinnati Reds maintained first place in the league for the entire season -- is attractively framed and displayed (figure A).
- The 1976 World Series trophy (figure B) is certainly among Ken's most valued mementos, and is displayed prominently in his new office.
- Shadow-box frames contain smaller trophy items (figure C), and Ken's three World Championship rings (figure D).
- Display boxes like this are relatively easy to make, and create a dramatic way for highlighting and displaying small items like commemorative rings. All that's required are a small box frame, a cut section of foam (available at crafts stores) and some material that's suitable as a background for the displayed item (figure E).
- Simply score the piece of foam in the center using a sharp point, place the material over the foam, and press the display item into the indentation, making certain that it is secure. Then press the frame down over the display (figure F).
- Commemorative baseballs are displayed on specially made shelves inside a three-dimensional frame (figure G).
These are just a few highlights from the items arranged and displayed with great care in Ken's remodeled office. If you're a die-hard sports enthusiast, use these or other ideas to create your own "hall of fame" with sports collectibles, art, photos, trophies and memorabilia.
