- Two important things about maintaining an aquarium are water quality and feeding, which are closely related, as overfeeding can cause a decline in water quality.
- Never overfeed your fish. Give them a pinch of food, and if they eat it all, give them a little more.
- Food should not rest on gravel longer than one minute. If you give the fish more food than they will eat, it will fall to the bottom of the tank and rest on the gravel, fouling the water and possibly causing a fatal illness for the fish.
- Feed fish twice daily, or give larger feedings once daily.
- Provide a variety of foods.
