    There are lots of decorations you can make with pineapples. Here are several examples:



    • You can use a yucca root (figure A) to make a nice palm tree. Cut off the ends to create a firm base. With a channeling knife or a paring knife, cut small grooves all the way around (figure B).





      Remove the top and the base of a pineapple. With a metal skewer, make two holes in the top of the pineapple and two corresponding holes in the root of the yucca. Place two bamboo skewers in the holes of the yucca root and slide them into the holes in the top of the pineapple (figure C).





      Turn the base of the pineapple upside down and cut a small hole in it. Set the yucca root down into the hole (figure D).





    • A pretty centerpiece is a carved pineapple (figure E). Start at the top of the pineapple and cut a v-shape all the way down, spiraling it around the body of the fruit.



      Following the "eyes" of the pineapple, cut v-shapes all the way down; remove the sections you cut (figure F). You can go back later with a knife and clean the channels out.





    • Another idea for a centerpiece is a pineapple bowl (figure G). For this, simply remove the top in a basket or crown shape -- you can use any pattern you chose. Break off the top half and with a knife trim out the inside.





      Use a spoon to scoop out the flesh (figure H). You can fill the bowl with sorbet to which you've added the leftover bits of pineapple.
